Position Summary:

The Electrical Project Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing the implementation of electrical systems and projects. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that meet technical specifications, safety standards, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Design and Development:
  • Design electrical systems, including power distribution, control systems, and lighting.
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD or similar software.
  • Ensure designs meet project requirements, industry standards, and client expectations.
  1. Technical Support:
  • Provide technical expertise during all phases of the project lifecycle, from concept to commissioning.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and technical evaluations for proposed designs.
  1. Project Coordination:
  • Collaborate with project managers, mechanical engineers, architects, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
  • Coordinate with procurement teams to select materials and equipment.
  1. Compliance and Standards:
  • Ensure designs comply with NEC, IEEE, IEC, and other relevant electrical codes and standards.
  • Perform risk assessments to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
  1. Cost and Efficiency Management:
  • Develop cost estimates for electrical components and systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce project costs.
  1. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design calculations, test reports, and as-built drawings.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
  1. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
  • Investigate and resolve issues during design, construction, or operational phases.
  • Perform testing and validation of electrical systems to ensure functionality.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical design engineering or project engineering.
  • Experience in industrial, commercial, or infrastructure projects preferred.
  • Certifications: EIT or PE licensure is a plus; proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of electrical design principles, codes, and standards.
  • Proficiency in simulation and design tools such as ETAP, SKM, or equivalent.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office-based with occasional site visits required.
  • May involve working in industrial or construction environments.
  • Occasional travel to client sites or vendor facilities may be necessary.
