The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in benefits administration with a proven track record in managing various benefits and retirement programs, including pension and 401(k) plans. This role requires a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, multi-site operations, and unionized workplaces.


Key Responsibilities:

Benefits Administration:

  • Oversee the administration of all employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and wellness initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and ACA.
  • Coordinate with HR and finance teams to manage benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations.

Retirement Plans Management:

  • Administer pension and 401(k) plans, including plan design, implementation, and communication to employees.
  • Conduct regular audits of retirement plans to ensure compliance and optimize plan performance.
  • Educate employees on retirement plan options and assist with retirement planning.

Vendor Management:

  • Evaluate and select benefits vendors and third-party administrators.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with benefits providers to ensure high-quality service and cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor vendor performance and address any issues or concerns.

HRIS Systems:

  • Utilize HRIS systems to manage and streamline benefits administration processes.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity within the HRIS related to benefits and retirement plans.
  • Generate reports and analytics to support strategic decision-making.

Union and Multi-Site Coordination:

  • Manage benefits and retirement plans for unionized employees, ensuring adherence to collective bargaining agreements.
  • Coordinate benefits administration across multiple manufacturing sites, ensuring consistency and alignment with company policies.
  • Act as a liaison between corporate HR and site HR teams to ensure seamless benefits delivery.

Plan Design and Communication:

  • Develop and implement innovative benefits and retirement plan designs that meet the needs of a diverse workforce.
  • Communicate benefits and retirement plan options clearly to employees through various channels, including presentations, webinars, and written materials.
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices to continuously improve benefits offerings.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an HR role with a focus on benefits administration in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience managing multiple benefits and retirement plans, including multi-site and unionized environments.
  • Strong knowledge of HRIS systems and experience with benefits software.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Certification in Benefits or Human Resources (e.g., CEBS, PHR, SPHR) is preferred.
