Day Shift: Mid 5x8-Hour (15:00 - 23:30)



Job Description:

  • Demonstrates basic knowledge in the areas of decontamination, prep and packing, sterilization, sterile storage, and patient care.
  • Adheres to safety standards.
  • Identifies manual and/or mechanical cleaning according to the manufacturer’s IFU for all general instrumentation.
  • Determines, prepares, and uses supplies required in the assembly process.
  • Identifies, inspects, assembles general instruments, checking for cleanliness & functionality utilizing count sheets.
  • Packages and labels instrumentation.
  • Safely operates sterilization equipment and perform verification and documentation of sterilization process.
  • Performs high temperature (steam) and low temperature (gas plasma) sterilization.

Skills:

  • Work Settings (REQUIRED) - Acute Hospital OR
  • Decontamination and Disinfection (REQUIRED) - Cleaning equipment (crash carts, IV pumps, PCA pumps), High-Level Disinfection (HLD), Use of Washers/sterilizers.
  • Preparation and Handling (REQUIRED) - Proper selection of wrapping materials, Sterilization wrapping procedures.
  • Processing (REQUIRED) - Sets/trays assembly.
  • Equipment Documentation (REQUIRED).
  • Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) (PREFERRED).
  • Specialty Equipment Processing (REQUIRED) - Neurology, Orthopedics.
  • Sterilization (REQUIRED) - Biological indicators, Chemical indicators, Flash sterilization, Steam Sterilization Testing/monitoring.
  • Additional Skills (REQUIRED) - Neuro/Crani, Ortho/Totals.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years experience required.

Licenses/ Certifications:

  • BLS – AHA.
  • Covid (Required) - Medical/Religious Exemptions Only.
  • Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CBSPD) or IAHCSMM.
  • Active WA License.
