We are seeking a Paralegal/Legal Assistant for our growing law firm to work in the area of estate planning, and family law. The ideal candidate is a confident self-starter who can work independently and act with tact and good judgment. Candidate must be proactive and willing to take initiative and ownership. Candidate must have estate planning/guardianship/trust work experience, including e-filing (Wisconsin filing a plus). Candidate must have 5+ years of prior legal experience, as well as strong computer, proofreading and word processing skills. Organization skills and attention to details are a must.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide paralegal support to attorneys
  • Prepare correspondence of a confidential nature
  • Arrange meetings and appointments, calendars same
  • Answer routine correspondence
  • Answer, screen, direct and place telephone calls
  • Obtain and maintain working knowledge of attorney’s area of practice
  • Have knowledge/is familiar with specialized legal policies, procedures, formats and terminology
  • Assist the firm’s lawyers in the delivery of legal services
  • May also, under the supervision of a lawyer, perform substantive legal work that requires knowledge of legal concepts
  • Draft legal documents; compile, analyze and summarize data, perform legal research through computerized networks
  • Utilize software applications/databases to manage complex legal matters
  • Client contact

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must have 5+ years of prior legal experience
  • Must have experience in estate planning, guardianship and trust work
  • Strong computer, proofreading and word processing skills
  • Organization skills and attention to details are a must
