Regional Director of Sales

The sales director will lead the strategic business objectives for the Affordable Suites of America for Grand Rapids and Warren hotels for sales volume, revenue generation, and account penetration within the assigned market. This position will assist in the development of a strategic account plan, market overview and assess demand generators. A key function of this position is to evaluate market intelligence, economic trends and highlight opportunities for NEW entry markets. The sales director will partner with General Managers to develop sales pipeline, plan sales blitz and assist with closing sales leads. Additionally, this position will partner with the real estate investment team & CMO to determine the viability of demand generators prior to closing on land.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Reviews (STR) report, bid clerk, local market publications and other resources to maintain an awareness of the hotel’s market position.
- Gains understanding of the hotel’s primary target customer; serves the customer by understanding their business needs.
- Conduct market specific SWOT analysis to identify direct competition and target customer base.
- Promote community awareness of the hotel and market share.
- Maintain a sales database capturing leads, pricing scales and activity.
- Lead and coach General managers to acquire new business and close leads.
- Organize and Plan Sales Blitzes including mapping out areas, setting up personnel, document and prioritize follow up, develop action plans to secure business
- Negotiate corporate rates with new and existing corporate clients.
- Solicit and negotiate business with new and existing clients through sales calls and daily prospecting for business referrals and networking.
- Assist in planning, managing, and attending guest events.
- Suggests innovative marketing / sales ideas and develops deployment strategies to continue to grow market share.
- Provide strategic feedback and recommendations to the executive team on how to stay completive within the marketplace.
- Coordinate sales strategy meetings with GM’s to provide input on weekly basis and assist with overall sales strategy.
- Directly responsible for growing market share performance of the hotel portfolio
- Willing to travel throughout the country and spend time in the markets.
- Performs other duties, as assigned, to meet business needs
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Leadership and management skills.
- Requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Sales experience in the following Vertical: Corporate, , Relocation, Government, Military, Sports, Construction, Insurance Medical
- Extensive knowledge of the hotel, its services, and facilities.
- Must have excellent guest service skills.
- Sales experience in the following Vertical’s: Corporate, Consortia, Relocation, Government, Military, Sports, Construction, Insurance, Medical
- Must be detailed oriented with outstanding organization and communication skills.
- Ability to travel 80% of the time
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Hospitality experience required.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required.
- 8+ years Extended stay sales experience preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision. The noise level is usually moderate.
