Job Summary:

The Database Administrator (DBA) will be a key member of our Engineering Team, responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, architecture, and security of our database systems. This role is critical to maintaining optimal performance and reliability of our databases while implementing security protocols to protect sensitive data. The DBA will focus on high-level architecture, customer data security, secure data access (DLP), SLAs and data integrity to meet organizational standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Database Performance & Optimization:

  • Monitor and analyze database performance; conduct regular performance tuning to optimize queries and enhance efficiency.
  • Conduct troubleshooting for slow queries, inefficient indexing, and other performance issues.
  • Implement database capacity planning to anticipate future storage and performance requirements.
  • Apply advanced performance optimization techniques for both existing and new ETL processes to ensure alignment with best practices.

Database Architecture:

  • Design, implement, and maintain the database architecture to support high availability and scalability.
  • Collaborate with the development team to review and optimize database schema and integration.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and upgrading of database software and related tools.
  • Regularly evaluate database architecture to ensure it meets organizational needs and performance goals.

Customer Data Security & Compliance:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain data security policies, standards, and best practices to safeguard sensitive company and client information.
  • Ensure database systems comply with relevant data privacy regulations.
  • Establish and manage secure data access controls, including role-based access and data loss prevention (DLP) mechanisms.
  • Conduct routine audits to assess and address vulnerabilities in data security.

Secure Data Access (DLP) & Data Integrity:

  • Implement and manage data loss prevention (DLP) tools to restrict unauthorized data access or export.
  • Maintain data integrity by enforcing data validation, consistent backups, and effective disaster recovery plans.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of database systems, including configuration, access controls, and SOPs.
  • Ensure that all database modifications align with data integrity standards and organizational policies.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience as a Database Administrator working with Microsoft SQL Server and/or Azure SQL, ideally within the technology industry.
  • Strong expertise in database management systems.
  • Proficiency in cloud infrastructure and secure data access methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization
  • Advanced SQL skills with a focus on database performance and security.
  • Knowledge of DLP tools and data security best practices.
  • Experience developing and implementing backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools to proactively address performance and security issues.
  • Familiarity with Datadog monitoring tools is a plus.
  • Experience working with SaaS deployments is a plus.
