The Office of Information Technology (IT) at NSU is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the position of IT Network Engineer III. The role entails a spectrum of responsibilities, with a primary focus on advanced networking expertise, particularly in high-level routing and switching. The successful candidate will be tasked with:


1. Demonstrating proficient knowledge in Network Engineering, encompassing IP Routing, Ethernet Switching, VPN, and related disciplines.

2. Configuring and deploying Firewalls/Security appliances to ensure secure access to critical business applications.

3. Designing and implementing complex switching environments to facilitate seamless network operations.

4. Developing intricate wireless networking solutions capable of supporting both open and secured access, as well as accommodating voice and video applications.

5. Creating and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation to facilitate operational efficiency and support team effectiveness.

6. Managing assigned projects and program components, ensuring service delivery aligns with established objectives.

7. Providing technical assistance and support to staff, administrators, service providers, and external vendors in response to inquiries.

8. Troubleshooting network hardware, software, and security system malfunctions to swiftly resolve operational issues and restore services.

9. Addressing network performance concerns through the utilization of network analyzers and packet-capturing technologies.

10. Supporting and administering in-house network monitoring solutions, while maintaining detailed documentation.

11. Conducting research and development activities to explore new architectures and execute proof-of-concept evaluations.

12. Assuming the role of project manager for IT infrastructure-related initiatives as needed.

13. Participating in disaster recovery simulation exercises, offering pre-planning and on-site support as required.

14. Serving as operational and backup recovery support, ensuring continuity of network operations.

15. Meeting the special requirement of being available on call 24/7 to address emergent network issues.

16. Undertaking special projects as assigned, contributing to the enhancement of IT infrastructure and services.

17. Fulfilling additional duties as assigned or required to support the operational needs of the department.


Candidates for this role must possess advanced knowledge in Juniper, Aruba, BGP routing and security platforms, with the ability to obtain and complete advanced certifications such as JNCIS, JNCIP, CCNP, or CCDP within 90 days of hire. The following experience qualifications apply:


High School Diploma and eleven (11) years of networking experience, -OR- Associate's degree and nine (9) years of networking experience, -OR- Bachelor’s Degree and seven (7) years of networking experience. Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Only candidates authorized to work in the US will be considered.
