Are you a strategic thinking IT leader with strong leadership skills interacting with Senior Leadership, and comfortable with using a hands-on approach to managing IT projects and teams in a small, fast-paced company environment? Our client, a medical supply company, is seeking a talented and experienced IT Director to lead the IT department and drive the technology initiatives. This role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the IT infrastructure, systems, and operations.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement an IT roadmap aligned with the company’s strategic business objectives.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions to enhance operational efficiency and competitive advantage.
  • Collaborate with senior management to integrate technology into overall company strategy.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement solutions & processes that improve operating efficiency & cost.

Infrastructure Management:

  • Oversee the selection and partnership with a managed service provider for infrastructure and end-user support services.
  • Ensure the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure meets business needs and regulatory requirements.

Team Leadership:

  • Recruit, train, and mentor IT staff to build a skilled and motivated team.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and foster a collaborative work environment to drive innovation.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to team members.

Project Management:

  • Lead IT projects, including the integration of services from the managed service provider, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to implement new systems and technologies.
  • Monitor project progress and address any issues or risks promptly.

Vendor Management:

  • Evaluate and select third-party vendors and service providers, including the managed service provider.
  • Negotiate contracts and service level agreements to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.
  • Monitor vendor performance and resolve any disputes or issues.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, such as FDA requirements for medical device manufacturers.
  • Implement and maintain robust data backup and disaster recovery plans.
  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities.


Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 10-15 years of experience in the IT field
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in a team or department leadership role, preferably within the healthcare or medical device industry.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with senior leadership and board members
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing IT strategies, budgets, and project plans.
  • Experience managing companywide ERP system, preferably Microsoft Business Central or Dynamics
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, systems, and security best practices.
  • Strong vendor management experience required.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
