Role Overview
As a Contract Enterprise Data Product Owner for our banking/financial services client, you will be essential to bridging the gap between business needs, data initiatives, and IT. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the Jira backlog, ensuring stories are created, workflows are efficient, and priorities are consistently aligned with the Product Manager's vision. You'll work closely with the Scrum Master, Delivery Lead, Tech Leads, and Product Manager to ensure a seamless, organized approach across multiple PODs, ultimately driving business value through streamlined project execution.
Key Responsibilities
* Backlog Management: Own the Jira backlog, creating and prioritizing stories that align with strategic business needs, facilitating actionable and valuable tasks for the team.
* Story Creation and Workflow: Translate product vision and priorities into detailed stories and tasks, establishing clear paths for development and delivery.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Scrum Master, Delivery Lead, Tech Leads, and Product Manager to support multiple PODs and ensure alignment and accountability across all teams.
* Documentation and Business Value: Document the business value for all items within the backlog, ensuring transparency, organization, and alignment with overarching objectives.
* Stakeholder Communication: Regularly update presentation materials and progress reports for stakeholders, providing visibility into progress, priorities, and delivery timelines.
* Agile Coordination: Participate in Agile ceremonies, including scrums, planning sessions, and retrospectives, to maintain alignment with project goals and support continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
* Experience: 5+ years as a Product Owner, or similar role, within banking or financial services.
* Jira Expertise: Proven experience managing backlogs, creating stories, and overseeing workflows in Jira, with a strong understanding of Agile methodologies.
* Cross-Functional Experience: Demonstrated ability to work across business, data, and IT functions to drive shared goals and deliver results.
* Technical Acumen: Understanding of data platforms, system integrations, and data management at an enterprise level.
* Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for simplifying complex topics for a variety of stakeholders.
* Problem Solving: Proactive and solutions-oriented, with a keen ability to anticipate challenges and develop effective solutions.
* Presentation Skills: Capable of preparing and presenting clear, concise reports and updates for stakeholders and leadership.
