Responsibilities:

  • Perform splicing of both loose tube and ribbon fiber optic cables, including high count ribbon fibers.
  • Construct and maintain proper splice cases and fiber termination panels.
  • Able to install (pull / place) fiber cable aerially on poles, underground ducting, or internally in buildings.
  • Able to climb extension ladders to mount / dismount fiber cable and enclosures aerially.
  • Troubleshoot issues to resolve signal problems effectively.
  • Operate sophisticated technical equipment, including OTDRs, power meters, and fusion splicers.
  • Handle and install splice enclosures and other essential plant equipment.
  • Manage the installation and organization of fiber optic cabling.
  • Interpret fiber records from digital maps (tablet / phone) or field notes (printed maps etc)
  • Analyze splice and test results, providing comprehensive reports to the management team.
  • Adhere to and champion Bouyant-C's safety standards, ensuring a secure workplace.
  • Traveling interstate to work on remote long-term construction projects approximately 15% to 30% of the time. Currently projects in the following states: Kansas, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, Georgia, and Texas.


Experience:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Proven experience in fiber optic splicing, testing, and repairs.
  • Skilled with essential tools such as cable strippers, cleavers, and testing equipment.
  • Capable of completing tasks and documentation in a timely manner.
  • A valid US Driver's License is required.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with both loose tube and ribbon splicing, and high count fibers is highly valued.
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • OSHA 30 certification is beneficial
