Position Overview

The Head of North American Investor Partners will be responsible for leading the North America Investor Partnerships team with the goal of driving investor growth in the region. This individual will serve as the lead strategist and executor of the distribution effort across North America for existing and prospective investors. This individual will function in as both player/coach by (i) raising capital directly from his/her own coverage universe while (ii) managing a team of regionally based Investor Partnership individuals and helping the team drive investor commitments.

We are seeking to recruit an experienced professional with managerial experience leading and mentoring a growing team, direct LP and consultant relationships, a proven track record of client management and capital raising in the private markets, and the ability to effectively communicate an investment strategy to prospective and existing investors with the goal of raising capital. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Investor Relations, and have the following core set of responsibilities:


Primary Responsibilities

Team Leadership:

  • Develop and execute overall marketing effort across North America, which may differ by region
  • Lead efforts to cultivate new investor relationships and drive commitments across different investor types and regions of North America
  • Determine annual performance goals for both team and underlying team members
  • Identify and develop investment solutions for clients, liaising with the Head of Investor Relations and leveraging the product specialist team and other internal resources
  • Ensure that appropriate messaging, product information and client management are being delivered to investors
  • Build internal relationships to promote strong collaboration and be well-positioned for new opportunities on the client side


Investor Prospecting:

  • Develop and help build new prospective investor targets for specified east coast region in U.S., including but not limited to: pensions, endowments, insurance companies, RIAs, family offices, endowments, foundations, fund of funds, asset managers and consultants
  • Leverage existing client relationships that would be a suitable fit for firm and strategy
  • Generate and help manage pipeline of prospective investors
  • Arrange introductory calls and/or meetings with prospective investors
  • Track and help manage prospective investor follow-up



Marketing and Communication:

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the firm, its history, professionals, culture, investment strategy and process, products, track record, portfolios and existing client base and successfully communicate to prospective investors
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the marketplace and competitive landscape and successfully communicate to prospective investors
  • Effectively advocate for the firm articulating its market position, competitive advantages, and value proposition to prospective investors
  • Lead initial presentations to prospective investors independently and/or with senior team members


Relationship Management:

  • Manage ongoing list of outstanding investor inquires, due diligence requests, RFPs and other follow-up, and work with investor relations team to ensure timely responses
  • Track all prospective investor progress in Client Relationship Management (CRM) system


Performance and Personal Competencies

Success building and leading distribution team:

  • Proven leader with experience managing a team, hiring and developing talent and assessing performance
  • Able to be strategic and think creatively in order to develop and implement a marketing business plan


Established and strong institutional investor relationships:

  • Solid reputation within the LP and Consultant communities
  • Strong track record of advising institutional investors and/or raising capital from high quality investors
  • Experience with developing and managing institutional relationships
  • Solid understanding of the private equity/credit fundraising process and investor service expectations


Market and Product Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of the credit markets
  • Sufficient experience with credit-oriented strategies (individual will be expected to become quickly conversant in the Firm’s investment strategy)


Communication and Relationship Building Skills:

  • Capability of articulating and selling investment strategy and engaging in solutions-oriented discussions with prospective investors
  • Naturally able to connect and build strong relationships with others, strong emotional intelligence and ability to communicate clearly and persuasively
  • Proven interpersonal communication skills with well-developed presentation skills


Entrepreneurial mindset, with an ability to be nimble and work without a playbook:

  • Creative approach to developing new, innovative ideas to drive investor pipeline
  • Self-motivated and proactive individual with an ability to work independently at times without a high degree of hand holding

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree from a well-respected institution
  • Minimum of 12+ years of financial services or consultant experience in an outward facing role
  • Minimum of 8+ years successfully initiating and developing institutional investors relationships and preferably raising capital for private funds, preferably in private credit and/or private equity
