Job Summary: The Investment Management Analyst is responsible for supporting portfolio management activities through comprehensive research and analysis. This role involves monitoring market trends, performing financial analysis, and assisting in the development of investment strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background, excellent quantitative skills, and a keen interest in the financial markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Market Research and Analysis:
- Conduct detailed research on financial markets, economic conditions, and investment opportunities.
- Analyze financial statements, market data, and industry trends to identify potential investment risks and opportunities.
- Prepare and present detailed reports and presentations on research findings.
- Portfolio Management Support:
- Assist in the management and monitoring of investment portfolios, ensuring they align with the firm’s investment strategies and client objectives.
- Perform regular portfolio reviews and provide recommendations for asset allocation adjustments.
- Monitor and report on portfolio performance, including returns, risk metrics, and compliance with investment guidelines.
- Financial Modeling and Valuation:
- Develop and maintain complex financial models to evaluate investment opportunities and forecast financial performance.
- Conduct valuation analysis using various methodologies such as discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions.
- Build and analyze model portfolios and ongoing adjustments to model portfolios.
- Client Reporting and Communication:
- Prepare detailed investment reports and presentations for clients, summarizing portfolio performance, market outlook, and investment strategies.
- Communicate effectively with clients, addressing their inquiries and providing insights into their investment portfolios.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure all investment activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with investment decisions and portfolio management.
- Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with portfolio managers, traders, and other team members to support the investment decision-making process.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as compliance, operations, and client services, to ensure seamless execution of investment strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA) is a plus.
- Series 65 exam (or equivalent), or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of the hire date.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, proficient in financial modeling and valuation techniques.
- Excellent knowledge of financial markets, investment products, and economic principles.
- Proficient in using financial software and tools such as Morningstar, Excel, ThinkPipes, Advyzon, and other analytical platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
- Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in investment analysis, portfolio management, or a related role within the financial services industry.
Working Conditions:
- This role involves reporting in person to our headquarters in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada, during standard business hours. Occasional travel and extended hours may be required based on business needs.
