Director of Business Development

As the Director of Business Development at a leading CDMO, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth and forging strategic partnerships within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. This position demands a keen understanding of market dynamics and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities that align with their mission of delivering innovative solutions to clients. You will lead initiatives to expand our service offerings, cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, and ensure that our clients receive unparalleled support throughout the drug development lifecycle.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify potential business prospects (leads) within the assigned region across pharmaceuticals, biotech, venture capital firms, non-profits, research institutes, and veterinary sciences.
- Recognize key decision-makers relevant to the business for potential outreach.
- Convert existing contacts and leads into near-term revenue opportunities.
- Establish new relationships with biotech and pharmaceutical companies in the assigned territory, facilitating meetings with technical teams and senior leadership as needed.
- Systematically report on sales activities, including meeting summaries and revenue forecasts.
- Support proposal writing efforts, focusing on consistency, quality, and presentation for clients.
- Provide attentive and comprehensive customer service for both ongoing and new client relationships.
- Assist with marketing research activities.
- Develop and enhance a robust marketing database, identifying growth opportunities and solutions.
- Share market feedback with senior management.
- Effectively represent the company by attending, exhibiting, and speaking at various conferences and trade shows.
- Develop and maintain timelines to meet assigned project goals, collaborating constructively with internal partners.
- Travel as required within the assigned territory to nurture customer relationships.
- Represent the organization in an ethical, scientifically accurate, and professional manner.
EXPERIENCE:
- 8+ years of CDMO Business Development experience.
- An understanding of small molecule APIs.
- A degree in Chemistry or related subject.
- An established network of partners in the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing field.
- Sales background (preferred).
