Category Specialist

Preferred location: Dallas-Fort Worth, TX

Contract to Hire

Remote with some onsite for occasional meetings, few times a month


Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and manage supplier performance, ensuring that the company's objectives are met.
  • Develop and implement category strategies to optimize product offerings and pricing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast demand and ensure adequate inventory levels.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing for products.
  • Monitor market trends and competition to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to vendor contracts and agreements.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed presentations to management and stakeholders, including necessary identification and compliance information.


Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a category management or procurement role.
  • Senior level individual contributor with 6 years experience or more in Sourcing/Procurement of Professional Services that should include the categories of Marketing, Business Development, Financial, Consulting, Bank Operations, and/or Data Analytics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.


Desired Experience:

  • Familiarity with/experience in a Financial Institution or Bank is a plus.
  • Knowledge of market trends and supplier dynamics in the relevant category.
  • Familiarity with vendor management systems and data analysis tools.
  • Understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements in procurement processes.
  • CPSM, CPM, or equivalent certification desired.
