Position Overview

The Managing Director (MD) will lead the Charleston Office and be responsible for driving overall business growth, client success, and overall operational excellence. This role will be responsible for building a local team, driving business development nationwide, developing client relationships, team leadership, and ensuring the office meets financial performance goals.  This role requires a leader with a vision for growth, strong operational skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional client service.


Key Responsibilities


Office Establishment and Growth: 

  • Lead the launch of the Charleston office, including team recruitment, development of operational processes, and establishing a local client base along with national clients.
  • Develop and execute strategies to expand the agency’s presence in Charleston and the surrounding area by identifying new business opportunities, building partnerships, and increasing revenue streams.
  • Set and achieve revenue and profit targets, ensuring the Charleston office operates efficiently and contributes positively to Pyxl’s overall financial performance.


Business Development:

  • Develop and execute strategies to expand the agency’s presence in Charleston and the surrounding area by identifying new business opportunities, building partnerships, and increasing revenue streams.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand Pyxl's client base nationwide.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, industry influencers, and stakeholders.
  • Lead pitch presentations and proposal development for new business prospects.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to enhance Pyxl's visibility and reputation in the market.


Leadership and Team Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with team members across the company, ensuring retention and mentorship.
  • Provide visionary leadership, aligning team efforts with the company's overall mission and strategic goals.
  • Oversee the creation and execution of client projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Lead by example in promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.


Client Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, ensuring their needs are understood and met.
  • Foster long-term client relationships through exceptional service, strategic insights, and proactive communication.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell Pyxl's services to existing clients.


Team Leadership and Development:

  • Recruit, hire, and develop top talent, building a high-performing team that aligns with Pyxl's culture and values.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to ensure team members meet their objectives and grow in their roles.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.


Operational Excellence:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient processes and resource management.
  • Manage the office P&L, budgets, and financial performance, ensuring targets are met or exceeded.
  • Implement best practices in project management, client services, and operational processes to optimize efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.


Brand and Market Positioning:

  • Collaborate with Pyxl Leadership to develop and execute strategies that position Pyxl as a leader in the market.
  • Represent Pyxl at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to build the agency's profile.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to keep Pyxl at the forefront of digital innovation.


Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a leadership role within an agency or similar environment.
  • Proven track record of driving business growth, managing high-profile clients, and leading successful teams.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, web development, and emerging technologies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L and budgets.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build and grow a team and business unit from the ground up.
  • Ability to think strategically while managing day-to-day operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
