Ocean Import Specialist (Freight Forwarding) – New York, NY


We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Ocean Import Specialist to join our team. This role focuses on managing ocean import shipments, ensuring operational excellence, and delivering exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities


  • Shipment Management: Oversee all aspects of ocean import shipments from origin to destination, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Customer Communication: Maintain regular contact with customers, vendors, and team members via email and phone to ensure smooth operations.
  • System Proficiency: Learn and apply the company’s operating systems while staying informed about ocean transportation and customs regulations.
  • Customs and Compliance: Possess knowledge of AMS/ACE systems and ensure compliance with U.S. Customs requirements.
  • Drayage Coordination: Manage trucking and drayage operations for ocean shipments.
  • Vendor Coordination: Work closely with ocean carriers, terminal operators, and warehouse teams to streamline processes.
  • Account Management: Adhere to account-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and generate timely reports for assigned accounts.
  • Problem-Solving: Address issues proactively, finding effective resolutions to ensure high service levels.


Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with the freight forwarding or supply chain industry is a plus, but a willingness to learn is essential.
