Job Summary: 


At Reproductive Partners San Diego we are seeking an experienced Healthcare Financial Counselor who will play a crucial role in helping patients understand and manage the financial aspects of their healthcare services. They work with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to ensure accurate billing, payment processing, and financial assistance options. The Financial Counselor provides guidance, support, and resources to patients and their families, helping them navigate complex insurance policies, billing procedures, and financial obligations.

How You'll Contribute: 

  • Assist patients in understanding their healthcare insurance coverage, including benefits, limitations, and out-of-pocket expenses. 
  • Educate patients on their financial responsibilities, such as deductibles, co-pays, and co-insurance. 
  • Review medical bills, insurance claims, and other financial documents to ensure accuracy and completeness. 
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve billing and payment issues, including negotiating payment plans and resolving disputes with insurance companies. 
  • Assess patients' eligibility for financial assistance programs, such as Medicaid, Medicare, and charity care, and assist them with the application process. 
  • Provide guidance and support to patients in understanding and navigating the healthcare system, including explaining medical billing codes, procedures, and insurance terminology. 
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient financial information, insurance coverage, and payment arrangements. 
  • Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to facilitate timely and accurate processing of claims and payments. 
  • Advise patients on alternative payment options, such as healthcare financing, crowdfunding, or community resources. 
  • Stay updated on changes in healthcare insurance regulations, policies, and procedures. 

 

 

What You'll Bring: 

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, finance, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 
  • Knowledge of healthcare insurance policies, billing procedures, and medical terminology. 
  • Familiarity with government healthcare assistance programs, such as Medicaid and Medicare. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers. 
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. 
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and software applications for data entry, record keeping, and billing processes. 
  • Previous experience in healthcare financial counseling or a related field is preferred. 
  • Customer service-oriented mindset, with the ability to empathize and provide support to patients facing financial challenges.
