Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Location: Fort Madison, IA
Duration: 6 months
Key Responsibilities
- Team Management: Lead a team of approximately 8-10 direct reports and contractors, providing functional guidance to 3-6 HSE personnel across factories and the tooling center.
- Strategy Development: Set HSE strategy for Onshore North America in alignment with global HSE strategy.
- Objective Setting: Establish, track, and report HSE targets and objectives to the management team.
- Reporting: Prepare and communicate HSE Monthly PSM Reports to the Projects organization.
- KPI Management: Establish, track, and report on HSE Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Continuous Improvement: Plan, initiate, and coordinate new and revised HSE programs and initiatives for continuous improvement.
- Support Decision-Making: Assist Technical Experts (TE) in HSE decisions related to retrofits, yearly release processes, and new turbines.
- Incident Analysis: Ensure all injuries and near misses are analyzed for trends and corrective actions are implemented.
- Staffing and Compliance: Ensure projects are staffed with qualified HSE professionals to meet customer and legal compliance, addressing day-to-day risk measures during transportation, installation, and commissioning of wind turbines.
- Risk Management: Ensure appropriate levels of management are aware of HSE deficiencies and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Certification Maintenance: Maintain OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 certifications.
- Environmental Control: Implement control measures for top environmental aspects and adapt for the American segment, including waste management, prohibited substances, and environmental impact compliance.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience
- Experience: 10+ years of successful experience in the Health, Safety, and Environmental field.
- Communication: Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively present to executive management.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Advocacy: Advocate for Zero Harm Safety Culture with the ability to influence management decisions to prioritize safety.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- Authorization: Legally authorized for employment in the United States. No employer-sponsored work authorization required now or in the future.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience
- Industry Experience: Experience in the wind industry.
- Language Skills: Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Certification: Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
