Guardian Security is looking for a Fire Alarm Design & Engineering Supervisor at our Seattle office Guardian Security was founded in 1976, and we have been serving the people of the Pacific Northwest with their security and fire protection needs since then - for over 40 years We are locally owned and operated, with four offices located in Yakima, Tacoma, Bellingham, and in the SODO district of Seattle.


This position is located at our Seattle location, hours are typically 7:30 am- 4:30 PM.


Position Summary:

This position ensures all fire alarms sold by Guardian Security meet the standards of any relevant code, designer specifications, construction specifications, and our clients' safety needs.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review all fire alarm sales and designs to ensure code compliance and acceptance by AHJs
  • Oversee the CADD department to ensure all drawings are up to professional standards.
  • Manage the CADD calendar to ensure the timely execution of drawings needed for fire alarm projects.
  • Be the designer of record for all fire alarm designs submitted to AHJs, where code requires.
  • Ensure all pre and post-project documentation is complete and ready to be submitted by the permit specialist(s).
  • Oversee the training of CADD employees in fire alarm code and system design.
  • Advise and assist the Director of Fire and Inspections Sales in training the sales team members about fire alarm code and system design.
  • Assist sales team members with site walks and plan reviews to ensure code compliance and accurate estimation of parts and labor.
  • Attend daily operations, sales, and CADD meetings for the fire team.
  • Help ensure profitability of fire alarm projects by making sure fire alarm systems are designed efficiently to minimize installation labor and parts cost.
  • Help ensure project profitability on construction jobs by verifying fire alarms are sold in accordance with the specifications provided for the project.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position supervises the CADD department for Guardian Security, and this individual must carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. This includes the direct supervision of a team of 2-4. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; monitoring performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years experience in either fire alarm sales, fire alarm installations, or a combination of both.
  • Experience working with confidential information


Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:

  • NICET III or NICET IV license in Fire Alarm required
