Our Finance & Administration team is focused on supporting our staff to create internal efficiencies. To help FMI be successful, the Manager, Association Database Systems will collaborate and craft strategies to manage the data flows to ecommerce and vital digital data sources such as our marketing automation system, HubSpot. The Manager will also manage the design, development, and programming needed to support and enhance the association management system.


This opportunity has lots of variety. In this role, you can look forward to:

  • Serving as the primary liaison between FMI staff and the FMI database development company for our AMS. This includes partnering with our data development company and outside vendors to facilitate and lead all integrations with the FMI database.
  • Providing project management expertise and testing for all new database integrations while evaluating new applications in the development phase, including data testing.
  • Analyzing and critiquing existing systems and making recommendations for internal efficiencies.
  • Developing training documents and presenting end-user training.
  • Overseeing all incoming data from external companies to ensure accuracy and reducing duplication.
  • Troubleshooting problems with the database and providing general database support as needed.


How will you add value in this role?

  • You will single-handedly manage the software that allows FMI to run and manage its membership. This includes ensuring that all membership data is accurate, all meeting registrations are processed, and all systems work together. The person in this role will help FMI deliver benefits to our members.
  • You will collaborate with all employees helping others perform their jobs effectively.


The candidate who will be successful in this role will have:

  • A minimum of three to five years of prior professional work experience in a similar role or related field - specifically managing a database.
  • A college degree or equivalent work experience in computer science.
  • Prior experience in a computer database support position with extensive knowledge and an understanding of database management procedures and priorities (including data structure).
  • Report writing experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of association business practices including conference registration, accounting and budgeting, and order entry and processing.
  • Computer literacy with a firm understanding of and ability to use Microsoft Office 365 products including Teams, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong project planning and time management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent people skills with an ability to collaborate with various colleagues across the organization as well as external vendors.
  • Strong customer service and team orientation.
  • A high-level of critical thinking and analytical skills.
