Job Title: Director, Clinical Supply Chain

Location: Cambridge, MA


Position Overview: The Director of Clinical Supply Chain will oversee and optimize the end-to-end supply chain processes related to clinical trials and research initiatives. This role is critical in ensuring that clinical programs are adequately supported with timely and efficient supply management, while adhering to regulatory standards and best practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical supply chain management, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the clinical supply chain strategy to support clinical trials, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage all aspects of clinical supply chain operations, including demand forecasting, inventory management, logistics, and distribution of clinical trial materials.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Partner with clinical operations, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of supply chain processes within clinical programs.
  • Vendor Management: Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure reliable and timely supply of clinical materials, including drug products and ancillary supplies.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the supply chain process and develop strategies to mitigate these risks, ensuring continuity and compliance throughout clinical trials.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the clinical supply chain budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and identification of cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve supply chain processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all clinical supply chain activities adhere to applicable regulations, guidelines, and best practices, including ICH/GCP standards.
  • Reporting & Metrics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor supply chain performance and provide regular reports to senior leadership.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Life Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, MS) preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in supply chain management within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with a focus on clinical operations.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role with a track record of successful project management and team development.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical trial processes, regulatory requirements, and supply chain best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
  • Proficiency in supply chain management software and tools; familiarity with inventory management systems is a plus.
