Director of Project Execution, Commercial Solar


The Director of Project Execution is a newly available opportunity within an established, well known, and growing national renewable energy investment company and developer of sustainable infrastructure. The Director of Project Execution will lead a team of professionals tasked with successfully managing the execution of distributed energy commercial solar projects with an emphasis on overseeing EPC contractors and contract management throughout distributed solar project lifecycles. This position will offer a competitive compensation range in the $155,000 to $170,000 range plus excellent benefits and career development. Ideal candidates will have 5 plus years of experience in construction management, project management, or related renewable energy project execution experience including prior experience with vendor management such as EPC and O&M contractors. This position will offer a hybrid three days in office work schedule from the company’s regional headquarters based in Baltimore, MD (Locust Point). Director of Project Execution – Job Description

  • Oversee project execution processes, engaging with key contractor project managers, and driving project execution process efficiencies to scale business.
  • Work in close coordination with EPC contractors, as well as the firm’s finance, legal, and engineering teams.
  • Manage project execution processes, including supervision of key team members, of PV assets and early project development for distributed solar PV investments.
  • Maintain key relationships with EPC contractors.
  • Manage weekly calls with contractors to discuss project progress.
  • Charged with taking multiple grid-connected energy projects from greenfield site origination agreements through COD.
  • Continuously review construction contracts for company and counterparty obligations and ensure contracts are complied with throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Hold contractors accountable to project schedules.
  • Manage information flows between contractors and internal teams (engineering, finance, legal).
  • Track project milestones, diligence deliverables, installation schedules, and project costs through the pre-construction, execution, and commissioning phases.
  • Oversee processes to manage project funding requests and contractor payments.
  • Drive internal process efficiency.


Director of Project Execution – Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree (or equivalent) in engineering, construction management, business or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing development and/or construction of renewable energy projects.
  • Knowledge of project contracts: EPC, O&M, etc.
  • Ability to work onsite in the Baltimore Maryland office three days per week.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to interface with contractors, independent engineering firms and other project stakeholders.
