Position: Assembly and Repair Technician

Location: South Seattle, WA

Duration: 6 month contract to hire

Pay Rate: $20-$22

Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, opportunity for overtime


Job Summary:

The Technician will be responsible for building and repairing Glowforge laser printers. This role demands a detail-oriented individual with significant experience in mechanical and electrical assembly, diagnostics, and quality inspection. The candidate may be working with PCBs and PCBAs, employing various inspection tools and troubleshooting techniques to ensure optimal performance of each unit.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

-Assembly:

● Assemble Glowforge laser printers following detailed engineering drawings and specifications.

● Integrate mechanical and electrical components, including the installation of PCBs and PCBAs.

● Utilize automated, semi-automated and hand tools to precisely assemble subassemblies and units.

-Diagnosis and Repair:

● Diagnose issues with malfunctioning laser printers and identify root causes.

● Perform repairs on both mechanical and electrical systems of the printers.

● Replace or repair faulty components and wiring using appropriate tools and techniques.

● Test unit for quality control prior to shipment.

-Quality Assurance and Inspection:

● Conduct thorough inspections of assembled units to ensure adherence to quality standards.

-Documentation and Compliance:

● Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documents.

● Maintain accurate records of assembly processes, repairs, and inspections.

● Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols while performing duties.

-Physical Requirements:

● Stand on feet for up to 8 hours a day.

● Regularly lift and move objects weighing 30lb or more.

● Maintain a clean and organized work area conducive to efficient production and safety.

● Task flexibility

-Education:

● High school diploma or equivalent required.

● Technical certification or associate degree in electronics, mechanical engineering, or a related field preferred.

-Experience:

● Minimum of [5] years of experience in assembly and repair of mechanical and electrical products.

● Proven experience working with PCBs and PCBAs preferred.

-Skills and Abilities:

● Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and schematics.

● Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

● Ability to use a variety of inspection tools for quality assurance.

● Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.

● Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

● Must have the ability to communicate effectively using oral and written methods, as well as understand written instructions

● Some computer proficiency is required for training and accessing/entering production information

● Basic math and measurement skills required

● Safety and Environmental Impact are important to us, so adherence to our policies and procedures is critical

● Ability to work as part of a team or independently is desired

Preferred Qualifications:

● Prior experience in a manufacturing or high-tech environment.

● Familiarity with laser printers or similar equipment.

● Experience in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
