General Function

Reporting to the President, the Director of Sales is responsible for all aspects of our customer’s needs and will partner with and ensure our business portfolio’s long-term success. This individual will be responsible for developing relationships with the assigned customers, connecting with key business executives, and liaising with the customer’s engineering, purchasing, and leadership teams to ensure the timely and successful delivery of the company’s solutions. Our customers are primarily in the U.S. and include various markets, including automotive, industrial, filtration, medical, heavy truck, HVAC/R, furniture, and other commercial product manufacturers.


Job Duties

  • Serve as a day-to-day contact and establish productive, trusting, and professional relationships with key customer contacts at multiple levels.
  • Facilitates, directs, and coordinates internal resources to address customer concerns regarding quality, price, delivery, and new product launches. Provide support to help resolve customer disputes, commercial issues, and escalations.
  • Oversee and lead the quoting process and engineering team to ensure efficient and accurate project estimations and optimal team performance.
  • Take a leadership role and collaborate with engineering, product management, procurement, and operations to ensure flawless project execution on time, on budget, and within customer expectations.
  • Provide information regarding the organization’s manufacturing and engineering capabilities, secure opportunities to assist customers with product specifications, and qualify customer requirements.
  • Ascertain information regarding customer activities, business levels, complaints, forecast plans and changes, and product development programs. Communicate information to internal staff regarding potential business opportunities, product profile, expected volume, market size, market competitiveness, and unique job specifications.
  • Proactively assess and validate customer needs on an ongoing basis. Act as our products’ human dimension, delivering expertise and guidance to our customers.
  • Prepares and presents proposals and negotiates quotations and contract proposals with existing customers, explaining all details, including methodologies, capacities, quality assurances, and proposal cost parameters.
  • Update and maintain relevant documentation, including quotes, customer price breakdown forms, cost sheets, price information, quality scorecards, and commercial pricing strategies.
  • Manage and negotiate long-term agreements with key customers that secure the base business and drive additional growth opportunities.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned, including projects or assignments to support the organization.


Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with occasional exposure to a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment where ambient air temperature can occasionally exceed outside air temperature
  • Must be able to bend at the waist and knees, walk, and stand for extended periods.
  • Must sit and view a computer screen for extended periods.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be flexible and able to change schedule and hours of work to meet the needs of the organization
  • Must be willing to travel, including occasional international travel


Required Experience, Skills, and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree with five years of proven experience in a customer-facing role in a metal stamping manufacturing environment
  • Ability to manage many assignments simultaneously with solid project management, organization, planning, and leadership skills
  • Understand PPAP or First Article Inspection and validation processes
  • Understand the APQP and technical feasibility review and process
  • Superior leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships at multiple levels to work cross-organizationally toward solutions
  • The candidate must be computer literate and proficient in Windows and MS Office (Word, Excel, and e-mail).
  • Ability to work with and communicate (verbal and written) effectively with all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to self-motivate, problem-solve, and work in a dynamic environment.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
