A vertically integrated company with internal development, construction, and property management divisions, the company is involved in every facet of the community-building process. From the initial site selection down to the quality finishing touches of each residence and building, the company considers each and every detail to be paramount. The company has successfully developed over 13,000 homes and class A luxury apartments in the Mid-Atlantic region and completed over $3 billion in real estate transactions.


Opportunity

The Chief Financial Officer will be an integral member of the firm’s senior management team, executive committee, and investment committee. Primary responsibilities include oversight of financial strategy, financial reporting, accounting, treasury, tax, capital formation, HR, and IT operations. Additional duties include developing and executing the firm’s financial strategy and, in conjunction with senior management, maintaining efficient and effective day-to-day financial reporting and accounting operations.


Responsibilities

  • Have overall responsibility for the operations of the Finance and Accounting, Insurance, and Risk Management departments.
  • Report to President/CEO and partner with the CEO on key expansion and growth initiatives.
  • Lead capital markets initiatives in the categories of debt and equity for new and existing projects and properties.
  • Establish and conduct staff meetings and participate in development and investment meetings.
  • Direct reports will include a Controller and related finance and accounting staff.
  • Oversee financial planning and analysis functions to include monthly, quarterly, and annual property budgeting/reporting to internal constituents, investors, and lenders.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all capital calls, distributions, and quarterly valuations and compliance with lender covenant reporting requirements.
  • Apply sound financial discipline to all company operations in order to enhance profitability.
  • Have shared values with the company and will promote an entrepreneurial spirit within the vertically integrated organization.


Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate is currently in a CFO role with a growing multifamily real estate organization (who preferably has a general contractor affiliate).
  • A respected senior leader and manager within the real estate investment and development industry with a strong finance and accounting background.
  • A well-rounded executive that understands how to manage both real estate operations and people.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ real estate industry experience.
  • Academic: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA degree preferred and CPA required.
  • Experience with ground-up development and high rise multifamily and mixed-use development projects.
  • Creative and hands-on problem-solver.
  • Strong experience with class A luxury multifamily properties is required. Experience with commercial real property assets is also essential.
  • Experience in real estate finance, investment and/or capitalizations.
  • Strong financial experience; growth minded.
  • Excellent presentation skills; ability to disseminate requested information in a clear and concise manner, both internally as well as externally to lenders, consultants or other third parties. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with an entrepreneurial real estate company. Strong preference to hire someone from a high-end multifamily developer whose properties have resort caliber amenities and hospitality-infused services.
  • Proficiency with Excel spreadsheet analysis and presentations.
  • Solid knowledge of job costing.
  • Experience with Yardi strongly preferred.
