Position Summary:

The O&M Field Lead Technician manages all field level activities required to operate and maintain a solar site. This will include scheduling, repairing, servicing, maintaining, reporting, communicating activities and events needed on site. Lead technicians should be very familiar with the solar industry and able to perform work on most equipment on the field.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair inverters, trackers, and other systems on site.
  • Perform retinue testing and repair of DC electrical circuits.
  • Troubleshoot and repair faulty equipment.
  • Manage on-site inventory and assets.
  • Ensure site safety and security.
  • Perform electrically safe testing procedures on all components on site before maintenance begins.
  • Log and record all maintenance activities performed.
  • Troubleshoot faulty equipment utilizing manufacturer’s support, manuals, and equipment specific training.
  • Accurately report and relay information to supervision and site owner representatives.
  • Adhere to all site safety requirements including LOTO, PPE, and safe working practices.
  • Perform site security and visual inspections of vegetation, facilities, and roadways.
  • Coordinate with contractors when necessary
  • Lead other technicians to accomplish specific tasks or activities.
  • Perform all solar site activities not listed above.


Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Required: Proficient in Microsoft Office software experience (ie Outlook, Excel)

High level of electronic principles knowledge to perform advanced troubleshooting.

Electrical testing equipment knowledge (multimeter, IV Curve Tracer, TTR, insulation resistance etc.)

Proficient in repairing and maintaining tracker systems, inverters, transformers,

Capable of performing substation and recloser switching.

3+ years solar experience


Preferred: Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) programs

Ability to navigate SCADA system monitoring and applications

Medium and High Electrical Voltage testing and safety experience

Leadership and mentorship experience


Physical Requirements / Work Environment:


Required: Ability to mostly work in an outside environment

Lifting items greater than 35 pounds

Walking on uneven ground

Ability to handle temperature extremes.

Able to wear and safely utilize all PPE required to perform tasks.
