Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled IT Infrastructure Contractor with expertise in server administration/engineering, networking fundamentals, and Azure administration/engineering. The role is predominantly tactical, involving the implementation of new infrastructure and the support of legacy systems. You will report directly to the Senior Manager of IT Infrastructure and have a dotted line to the Cloud Infrastructure Architect. This position requires exceptional team and communication skills, as well as the ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a demanding environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Server Administration:
  • Manage, monitor, and support Windows servers ranging from Windows 2003 to Windows 2022 in a legacy datacenter environment.
  • Perform routine maintenance, updates, and patches to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Azure Administration:
  • Oversee thousands of resources in production and non-production Azure environments.
  • Implement design and support considerations for ongoing development projects in Azure.
  • Collaborate with the Cloud Infrastructure Architect on cloud strategy and implementation, including security hardening, cost optimization, landing zones, and IaC.
  • Networking Fundamentals:
  • Apply networking principles to ensure seamless integration and communication between systems.
  • Troubleshoot network issues affecting server and cloud environments.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and management.
  • Contribute to team meetings with insights and updates on infrastructure projects.
  • Autonomous Work:
  • Independently manage projects from inception to completion.
  • Produce deliverables within set timelines without constant supervision.
  • Legacy Support:
  • Provide support for existing infrastructure, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for legacy systems.
  • Strategic Input:
  • Offer insights and recommendations for infrastructure improvements and optimizations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends to inform strategic decisions.


Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in server administration and engineering.
  • Firsthand experience with Windows Server environments from 2003 to 2022.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Azure administration and engineering.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with both legacy datacenter environments and modern cloud infrastructures.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Exceptional blended team collaboration and communication abilities.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • "Project management" mentality - understanding of dependencies, tasks, and dates; willingness to discuss impediments as they arise.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
  • Experience in a fast-paced development environment.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools and scripting languages.
