Summary

Our 10-week internship offers a comprehensive and immersive experience for students interested in gaining practical knowledge and skills in the banking industry. Each week, you will be exposed to different leaders and aspects of the line of business. You will have the opportunity to complete projects that will help you understand the day-to-day operations of a bank and develop a well-rounded skillset. By the end of the program, you will have gained valuable insights, built a solid foundation in banking practices, and potentially set the stage for future career opportunities at First Horizon.

Work schedule and number of hours worked per week (minimum: 25 – 40 hours) are flexible, within normal business hours.

Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join First Horizon Bank as a Generative AI (GenAI) Intern on our AI, Cloud and Data teams. In this role, interns will assist in research related to the development, implementation, or optimization of state-of-the-art GenAI solutions related to our identified use cases across our organization and product offerings for the Banking and Financial Service industry.

Interns will work closely with our team of business leads, engineers, data science, and product strategy experts to design, execute, and iterate on a research project(s) to test novel ways of utilizing GenAI in a real-world business setting.


Interns are encouraged to bring ideas and expertise from their areas of research/study and will develop their skills and business acumen through formal and informal training, real world project work, as well as receiving mentorship that encourages them to stretch their skillset over the source of the internship.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Suggest and collaborate on developing novel approaches or research questions that would add value in First Horizon Bank's business context.
  • Analyze and evaluate the performance of various GenAI models, or methods of applying those models, in the context of real-world data and use cases.
  • Conduct research to identify new models and techniques.
  • Collaborate with other team members to design and develop new approaches.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation summarizing the approach, methods, and finding of their research.

Qualifications


Position Requirements:
Candidates should be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program in finance, business, computer science, engineering, data science, mathematics, or related field. First Horizon Bank is targeting current master's program students but is also open to motivated current Juniors with highly relevant experience.


Required Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Able to work nimbly in a dynamic, fast-moving work environment and navigate changes in direction based on new findings.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Field of research that is related to the application of LLMs in a business setting, and/or the Banking & Financial Services industry
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or C++
  • Familiarity with generative models such as GANs, VAEs, and autoregressive models
  • Experience with natural language processing (NLP) and image processing.
