Gain valuable hands-on professional experience in a fun and warm environment. A demanding and rewarding job that is an essential part of our summer team and the Schodack community.

Location: 40 Krouner Rd. Nassau, NY. 12123

Dates:
June 1- August 15, 2024

The regular activity period:

You will coach 6 scheduled group periods a day and be at the Flag Football field for 3 Camper Choice periods.

Each camper group is generally scheduled for one or two 45-minute Flag Football periods each week. During these periods, you teach basic skills and supervise team play.

Camper Choice and Night Activity:

During Camper Choice, campers of any age come to the courts for casual play, scrimmages/games with friends, or an opportunity to receive extra/specialized instruction from you.

Camper Choice is also a time for interested campers to play more passionately in a competitive league. This is called
Ultra Leagues.
You may referee Ultra League games during Camper Choices several days of the week.

In addition, some very motivated players will look to improve their skills in special clinics run by yourself and other staff members during the night activity (8-9:30PM) and this will also take place throughout the week.

You will be responsible for keeping the field free of litter, clothing, and balls when not in use. This includes collecting lost and found before lunch and again before dinner.

During the day:

You will be at the field during each of the 6 daily activity bunk periods (unless you have a period off) and all 3 Camper Choice periods.

You should use the morning paper (the SCOOP) and lineups (all camp gatherings for announcements) to spark interest in your activity.

You will attend scheduled meetings with your supervisor (ACS) and keep her/him informed of how each bunk is doing at your activity.

At the end of the day you will make sure the equipment is put away, trash is picked up, leftover clothing returned to the appropriate bunk/the Lost & Found area.

During the evening:

Most evenings, after the 3rd Camper Choice period has ended you will be considered to be on your time off except for any evenings where you are needed to assist/run the evening program.

On those nights you will join other activity counselors to help run the evening activities, although as Flag Football coach you may be running the aforementioned skills clinics at this time.

One/two nights a week you sit OD (on duty) for a bunk, you will be required to stay on camp all evening to help supervise a group or campers until one of their Bunk staff returns.

  • You will complete staff evaluations and make program recommendations for next year (including a full inventory of your equipment).
