Job Summary:
The Early Childhood Development (ECD) Teacher plans, implements and assesses a program of instruction that adheres to the district's mission, philosophy and objectives, while meeting the specific needs of the students they service to maximize their learning potential.
Salary & Benefits:
Teacher Salary Schedule (TE)
Health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance. Employees shall be subject to the co-payment of health care costs equal to the difference between the premium cost and the annual cost limitation imposed on public employers.
Education:
Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with a ZS endorsement,
or
Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with a ZA endorsement plus an endorsement in at least one area of special education.
Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of child development and standards for Early Childhood Programs.
- Knowledge of disabilities and their educational implications.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate instructional strategies for preschool children.
- Ability to assess functional performance levels of preschool children.
- Ability to adapt instructional activities and materials to address the needs of students.
- Ability to effectively communicate with parents and guardians.
- Ability to complete and maintain necessary records.
- Comply with all Michigan Special Education law/requirements.
- Provide special education services as indicated on the Individual Educational Plan
- Collect record, and report data relative to student performance on individual goals and objectives.
- Conduct required formal and informal evaluation to measure students' progress.
- Collaborate in the development of Evaluation/Review Plans
- Active participant in the CIMS process, including implementing any required corrective actions.
- Comply with state and district policy on the use of seclusion and restraint.
- Participate in transition planning.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in building Student Assistance Teams
- Participate in ECD Program meetings.
- Participate in Early Childhood professional development training.
- Complete Medicaid documentation, monthly
- Utilize a variety of research-based intervention strategies, continually assessing student response to intervention and make modification as needed to ensure all children are successful.
- Develop and implement Positive Behavior Support Plans
- Work collaboratively with school initiatives that support intervention strategies for student success.
- Conference with parents, therapists and other medical/agency personnel
- Establish communication systems between teacher, parents, and support staff.
- A signed cover letter

- Copy of transcripts
- Three signed professional letters of recommendation (cannot be older than 18 months)
