Main Duties & Responsibilities


The Manufacturing Automation Engineer, working with ourglobal new product launch teams, will be responsible for process design anddevelopment concurrent to new product development.

Additionally, this positionwill support and lead manufacturing start-up operations that include; plantbuild-out, process development and optimization of flow, machinery &equipment acquisition, manufacturing layout, continuous improvement and otherduties associated with engineering support of production to ensure Riekeattains best in class manufacturing operations.

The Manufacturing Automation Engineer will have thorough understandingof the inject molding process (possible applications or new and/or emergingcapabilities), optimum line layout, ergonomics, space utilization, machinecontrols, assembly and WIP storage, within the context of the Rieke facilities,cost capabilities and time constraints.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:


Works closely with plant leadership indeveloping design for manufacture and assembly optimized concepts andspecification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturingtechniques to achieve low cost designs to meet customer goals.

Participates in cross functional productdevelopment teams in new product development requirements.
Responsiblefor process design and development as well as fabrication of newequipment, work instruction generation and validation criteria.
Supportsdesign development efforts to ensure an effective transition toproduction.
Supportsmanufacturing operations in the areas of process development, tooldesign, machine programming, machinery & equipment acquisition,manufacturing layout, and continuous improvement.

Provides direction and technical supportin identifying continuous improvements to manufacturing operations andimplementing new technologies; development of processes, researchingcurrent and emerging technologies and evaluating process quality, cost,capacity and capability alternatives.

Responsible for all aspects ofdevelopment, documentation, and support of the manufacturing process fromconceptualization through production sustaining all activities.

Qualifications

Qualifications andSkills:

Bachelor'sdegree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or relateddegree.
Minimumof 10 years of experience in automated manufacturing process design anddevelopment.
Lean or Six SigmaCertification.
Technical background in injection molding and highspeed assembly preferred.

Must befamiliar and able to troubleshoot different types of sensors, solenoidvalves, electrical motors, electrical switchgears, PLC, HMI, VFD, Servodrives and guiding rails.

Must befamiliar with vibratory feeders, servo drives, VFD's, conveyor belts,indexing tables driven by electrical motors, continuous process machines.
Basicknowledge of PLC/HMI/VFD programming desired.
Hands onexperience in electrical drawing (AutoCAD) and mechanical drawing (2D,3D).
Experience with developing and implementing successfulsolutions for complex manufacturing processes.
Experience in ISO9001.
Strong experience in Project and Processmanagement.
Proven experience in process design anddevelopment.
Previous involvement with New Plant StartUps is preferred.
May require up to 30% travel.
