Current Job Opportunity

This role involves efficiently handling all medical record requests, particularly the release of information (ROI), to ensure accuracy and deliver top-notch customer service. The primary focus is on protecting patient privacy rights and ensuring compliance with regulations, company policies, and HIPAA standards. The position entails extensive travel, approximately 75% of the time. It is an intermediate-level role requiring at least 1 year of relevant Health Information Management (HIM) experience. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for training HIS I staff and providing reports to managers or facilities.

Role Details

• Work full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm EST, based in Camden, NJ

Typical Daily Activities

• Understanding of HIPAA guidelines for medical record release and requests

• Management of inbound and outbound communications via calls, emails, fax, and other administrative tasks

• Assisting walk-in patients or clients

• Previous exposure to a medical office setting (preferred, not mandatory)

Key Responsibilities

  • Process requests for patient health information as per Company and Facility protocols
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged information
  • Stay updated on Company and facility software
  • Adhere to the Company's and Customer facilities Code of Conduct and policies
  • Inform management of work challenges and fluctuating volumes
  • Provide support for additional duties as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with medical privacy regulations
  • Manage patient health records
  • Protect patient records and ensure HIPAA compliance
  • Prepare new patient charts, collate documents, and ensure accuracy
  • Create digital copies of paperwork for electronic medical records
  • Respond to requests for patient records internally and externally
  • Handle inbound/outbound calls and assist walk-ins
  • Support with administrative tasks like managing faxes, mail, and data entry
  • Coordinate pick-ups as needed
  • Train HIS I associates and create reports for management
  • Participate in projects and committees to enhance operational strategies
  • Provide guidance to staff, offer training, and assist with new hires
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 18 years old
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally 75% or more
  • Flexibility to commute between locations
  • Willingness to work overtime during peak periods
  • 1-year experience in Health Information or related field
  • Meet or surpass Company's Productivity Standards
  • Basic computer skills
  • Proficient in phone and general office equipment use
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accurate and compliant medical information
  • Strong data entry abilities
  • Capacity to multitask and respond to fast-paced environments

  • Prior experience in metric-based roles

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

The role is based in an office environment with minimal exposure to hazards. Candidates should be able to stand and sit regularly, reach vertically and horizontally, utilize telephone and computer equipment, and lift up to 20 lbs. daily. The position involves working on a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day amidst interruptions. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities. Regular travel, up to 75% of the time, may be necessary across multiple sites.
