Job Summary:


The Technical Director is responsible for the supervision and implementation of the production elements for all events in the New Hampton Schools McEvoy Theater.

They are responsible for making sure that all technical aspects of a show are carried out in a timely fashion.

This includes implementing any scenic or lighting designs, and managing any technical details needed during performances. Set, light, sound and running crew volunteers may have to be recruited from amongst the school community.

Job Status:


A faculty member at New Hampton School works throughout the academic year, as well as when their job duties require them to work.

A faculty member engages with students through the academic, school life, and co-curricular programs. The full-time faculty position is a salaried position and includes applicable benefits in accordance with School policy.
Technical Directors Responsibilities Included (but are not limited to):
Ensuring a safe work and learning environment.
Maintaining well-organized workspaces.
Providing production management for the use of the theatre by outside and internal groups.
Planning, scheduling and ensuring timely provision of costumes, lighting, props, set and sound for NHS plays and musicals.
Overseeing, instructing and training support staff and student crews.
Ordering materials, tools and supplies.
Maintaining show standards throughout run of performances.
Participating and leading load-ins and strikes.
Facilitating repair and reasonable general maintenance of the theatre facilities.
Ensuring maintenance of theatre resources and equipment.
Overseeing everyday use of the theatre that involves light, sound or set pieces.
Organizing crews for all performances in the theatre.
Implementation of scenic and lighting designs of three theatrical productions.

Providing assistance in McEvoy Theater for school community and outside* events, as well as assisting the Director of Music with sound equipment setup for community events.

* additional time required outside of the school calendar and compensated as such.
Faculty Members Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
Support the schools mission, vision, and values.
Attend orientation, faculty and departmental meetings, service-learning days, professional development days, weekend activities, and periodic community
Perform one other duty as assigned by the Head of
Attend all-school functions (required meals, community meetings, graduation, )
Be familiar with school policies, rules, and regulations, and comply with the schools health and safety policies.
Teach three classes includingTheatrical Design and Production.
Be flexible with changes to job responsibilities due to health and safety protocols.
Advise students following the protocols defined in the Advising Handbook.
Perform residential life duties as a member of a five-person
Work a six-day schedule, including Saturdays during the academic year.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge:
Minimum of bachelors degree and expertise in subject
A passion for learning new technology
A commitment to life-long learning.
Strong verbal and written communications
Possess a valid drivers
Successfully complete a criminal and motor vehicle background
Characteristics of a New Hampton School Faculty Member
