1.0 FTE variable NOC Float Position (40 hours per week) Tuesday - Saturday NOC Shifts Position will work NOC shifts Tuesday - Saturday Floating between supportive housing programs.

Variable location will be based on program needs and will be scheduled for 1 month at a time, with notice provided for any changes to work location.

Position will be expected meet FTE requirements each week across the staffed supportive housing programs, including Alberta Plaza, Glisan STP, Instar, The Joyce, Prescott Terrace, and Rain Garden, in which the incumbent is guaranteed 40 hours/week.

The schedule is variable.

As a float position, it requires the flexibility to fill in shifts using an electronic scheduling system and communication with program managers.

The float position will have a default program to work at when shifts are not available at other sites. Sites are located in Portland (NE, SE, and North). Float positions include a $1 pay differential. A shift differential may also be included, depending on the shift you work.

Both Swing and overnight shifts are provided with a shift pay differential in addition to the hourly wage when clocking in; swing is $1.00/hr and overnight is $3.00/hr.


Choice model services, formally known as the Adult Mental Health Initiative (AMHI), are designed to promote more effective utilization of current capacity in facility-based treatment settings and increase care coordination for those living with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI).

The goal of these programs are to support residents in moving to greater independence.


Mental Health Aides work as a member of an interdisciplinary team to implement and monitor treatment for residents within the residential facility.

This position involves participation and implementation of program goals and objectives to promote a strengths-based, client centered approach to assisting residents in achieving individual goals and ultimately transitioning to a less restrictive setting.

All incumbents must understand, appreciate and respect the diversity and cultural differences within our Cascadia community.

It is expected that there is an awareness and sensitivity to the perspectives and perceptions to those we serve, as well as our colleagues.

As Cascadia is Trauma informed, the incumbent must support a Trauma Informed Care Environment.

With the high prevalence of trauma among individuals receiving behavioral health services, it is required that the incumbent understand the effects of trauma on health, coping, and other aspects of the lives of those we serve.

Essential Duties

This position description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of responsibilities or an all inclusive job description.

  • Provide support with activities of daily living such as self-care, grooming and accompany residents to appointments if necessary.
  • Lead skills training groups: I.e. cooking groups, writing groups, social skill groups, etc. (the fun part is bringing in your creativity)
  • Assigned to one or two residents as a Primary Treatment Coordinator and you will have the opportunity to work with Case Managers in supporting residents with their support plans.
  • Overnight positions may have the opportunity research and learn more clinical knowledge or terms and will provide more support in house hold chores since this can be a quieter time. Ultimately, it will depend on the program needs.
  • Help with household chores
  • Medication management and medication documentation
  • Electronic record documentation that will includes progress notes as well as any notes or reports pertaining to critical incidences
  • Assist in crisis situations as appropriate, following emergency protocols and procedures. Have the ability and be prepared to assist with avoidance preventing escalation.
  • Demonstrate professional boundaries, abide by HIPPA, and complete required annual trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

  • Level I requires no experience
  • Level II requires a

QMHA:

a Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science field from an accredited college or university or three years of full time professional experience working in the mental health related field.

  • Having experience working in a residential facility providing direct support is helpful

Working Conditions

  • Staff must have the ability to assist residents in participating in a variety of active leisure and recreational events, as well as skill building outings and accessing community resources. These are required to avoid behavioral incidents and volatile situations.
