Job Description

Position Title: TRIO Upward Bound Residential Supervisor/Coordinator

Department: TRIO Upward Bound

Reports To: Director of TRIO Upward Bound

Classification: Exempt

FTE: June-July

Essential Job Duties:

1. Leadership
  • Provide Summer Program support and perform related duties, as assigned
  • Oversee residential programming and ensure it complies with federal regulations and college policies
  • Ensure students/staff are following all St. Olaf and UB rules and guidelines
  • Play an active role in summer programming and training
  • Provide mentorship to residential hall staff
  • Maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment
  • Participate in recreational and cultural activities
  • Facilitate residential staff meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned
2. Collaboration
  • Assist program staff with compiling and entering data and other documentation
  • Work closely and collaboratively with fellow supervisory staff, St. Olaf faculty, and the Registrar's Office
  • Assist the Director with other documents/tasks, as requested
  • Maintain relationships with faculty, staff, and the St. Olaf community
  • Participate in recreational, program, and cultural activities
  • Assist with program needs and requests
3. Supervision
  • Provide supervision for residential staff
  • Assign tasks to be completed by residential staff
  • Supervise all summer participants to ensure safety, rules, and a positive experience
  • Report all and any student/staff concerns immediately to the program director
4. Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community

5. Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle

6. Perform other duties as assigned

Work Schedule:

Term: Temporary assignment through June and July

Shift: During the academic summer program, the standard work-week schedule is Sunday - Friday; however, extra hours are required for this position, including on-call hours during programming

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree, ability to establish a good rapport with students, experience with and ability to relate with others (high school students), sensitive to the target population and committed to program objectives and goals, a strong background in subject areas, maintain a valid driver's license and meet St. Olaf College driver authorization criteria with a satisfactory driving record

Experience: 1+ years related experience, preferably with a diverse student body; personal background/familiarity with students with similar backgrounds to those in TRIO (ex. low-income, first-generation in their families to obtain a college degree); previous supervision experience

Whether a background check is deemed successfully completed will be at the sole discretion of St. Olaf College.
