Job Description:
Advanced Practice Provider (APP), Full Time - Pediatric Surgery

The Advanced Practice Nurse assumes responsibility for advanced nursing practice within a clinical specialty.

In consultation with other members of the health care team, strengthens nursing practice and promotes positive patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

Clinical:
Coordinate and direct out-patient clinics.

History and Physicals for all new patients encounters.

Place all orders and follow-up on OR cases, imaging and/or labs.

Maintain a log of all studies (imaging, labs, etc.) and ensure completion & physician review.

Assist in creating clinic notes to be signed off by attending of record.

Answer all in-basket questions from My Cooper and document conversation regarding plan of care.

Coordinate pediatric surgery clinic supply ordering and maintain appropriate amounts to ensure clinic can run smoothly.

Administration:
Directly reports to Lead APN in Pediatrics; indirectly reports up to division head in Pediatric Surgery.

Review all patient schedules to assure imaging/labs are available for patient appointments.


Review charts prior to each scheduled clinic to assure they are appropriate based on clinical practice guidelines and assist in directing patients to the appropriate clinics.

Reviews division calendars to ensure accuracy.

Oversee changes in clinic and OR schedules.


Works with Pediatric Surgery division coordinator and surgery scheduler to ensure efficient and accurate workflow scheduling for the pediatric division.

Direct and staff advance practitioner clinic when there is sufficient volume to support such a clinic.

Master's degree - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

License/Certification Requirements:
New Jersey APN & RN or PA. AHA BLS certification.

Special Requirements:
Schedule - Days/Hours: Full time - 40 hours weekly
