Job Description

Title: Assembly Technician

Reports To: Operations Manager

Job Purpose: The Assembly Technician is a key team member responsible for executing operational processes, which include cutting, grinding, fitting, and finishing ablative material to precise dimensions based on print specifications. This role also involves actively participating in assembly tasks, contributing to shipping and receiving operations, and occasionally utilizing driving skills for specific purposes.

Responsibilities:
  • Execute a variety of tasks within a production assembly environment following specific training instructions, both verbal and written.
  • Cross-train on different stations within the assembly area to enhance flexibility and productivity.
  • Proficiently read and interpret drawings to carry out layout, fabrication, and assembly steps accurately.
  • Record production quantities, labor details, and material movement precisely according to company procedures.
  • Skillfully operate table saws, router tables, and handheld grinders.
  • Follow appropriate cutting, grinding, and fitting techniques.
  • Apply bonding agents to metal components.
  • Conduct visual and tactile inspections of surfaces to ensure finish quality.
  • Utilize measurement tools like tape measures, calipers, and depth gauges for precision.
  • Apply basic shop math concepts to ensure accurate measurements.
  • Conduct basic inspection measurements on completed work pieces for quality assurance.
  • Handle paint prep masking and unmasking duties.
  • Package, weigh, and label finished items for shipping or storage.
  • Adhere to Quality Management System procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Comply with company packaging guidelines.
  • Inspect work pieces for defects and ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Follow company procedures for addressing defective parts and collaborate with team members to identify and implement solutions.
  • Effectively use packaging materials and hand tools for tasks.
  • Operate computer programs related to assigned responsibilities.
  • Communicate efficiently with colleagues and supervisors to receive instructions and coordinate tasks.
  • Assist in inventory management, shipping, and receiving activities.
  • Occasionally drive for specific purposes.
  • Maintain work areas in line with 6S standards.
  • Ensure prompt and efficient delivery of packages to customers.
  • Perform any other assigned duties.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Clean driving record is mandatory.
  • Experience in reading prints is desirable.
  • Preferable background in lean manufacturing and quality systems (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485, and AS9100D).
  • Prior experience with standard shop tools and measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) is a plus.
  • Capability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in using material handling equipment, including forklifts, is necessary.
  • Detail-oriented mindset is essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
