Revenue Cycle Specialist

The Revenue Cycle Specialist provides support and customer service for all patient accounts and billing issues. Will work closely with the Patient Accounts Manager in training and mentoring staff as well as strategizing to improve workflows and maximize resources.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Daily involvement and participation with all billing responsibilities to include claims, collections, accounts receivables, unbilled, follow-up, ledger verification, etc.
  • Provide timely responses to department tickets (via Zendesk portal).
  • Research insurance denial reasons in accordance with best practice policies.
  • Perform necessary account follow-up by contacting insurance companies to resolve payment discrepancies.
  • Submit timely appeals and grievances; conduct follow-up on these submissions' status.
  • Work through weekly and monthly reports to ensure accuracy within the Patient Accounts department in accordance with best practice policies.
  • Research aging dental and medical claims via aging reports in accordance with best practice policies.
  • Provide timely customer service by assisting patients with account-related inquiries including demographic updates, insurance updates, or any other general questions following HIPAA guidelines in accordance with best practice policies.
  • Build strong working relationships with all departments, sites, insurance company representatives and vendors in accordance with best practice policies.

Education and Experience
  • HS Diploma required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, along with a demonstrated ability to deliver timely results.
  • Must be comfortable working with computers. MS Office experience (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required.
