Job Description and Duties

Under the supervision of the Correctional Health Services Administrator II, and general direction of the Senior Clinical Laboratory Technologist, CF, and following established procedures, the Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for all clinical laboratory work for the use and care of the laboratory equipment. Additionally, this individual is responsible for drawing and preparing specimens for shipment to an outside laboratory facility. The laboratory Assistant is responsible for making urine chemical analysis, stating prison needs and preparing appropriate orders for supplies, materials and equipment for the CTC laboratory.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Either I

Six months of experience in laboratory work similar to that described in Definition of Levels above.

Or II

Education: Equivalent to completion of the eighth grade.

Or III

Satisfactory completion of a formalized laboratory work experience and training program of at least three months' duration, such as those conducted under Job Training Partnership Act, or similar work experience programs conducted by State agencies.

Working Conditions

Travel is required.
