GENERAL FUNCTION

The Optometric Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring every patient receives exceptional Optometric care during their eye exam. This position bridges the gap between the doctor and primary care functions, delivering an unparalleled patient experience.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists with patient care and eye exams, managing patient records and ensuring smooth patient flow.
• Conducts various vision tests to support optometrists in examinations.
• Ensures accurate diagnosis and timely treatment through tests and assessments.
• Maintains organized patient records following practice standards and HIPAA guidelines.
• Supports contact lens exams and orders, including care, inventory, and patient orders.
• Utilizes scheduling procedures and computer operations effectively.
• Operates the point-of-sale system with accuracy.
• Maintains a safe environment for team members and patients.
• Supports visual merchandising compliance in designated areas.
• Adapts to different examination scenarios and maintains a friendly demeanor with patients and staff.
• Provides detailed explanations of measurements and answers patient questions.
• Ensures equipment maintenance and disinfection.
• Works flexible hours as needed by the business.
• Adheres to company policies and procedures, including dress code.
• Performs other assigned functions as required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• High School graduate or equivalent
• 2 years' experience in optometry, ophthalmology, or healthcare
• Knowledge of optical and medical terminology
• Familiarity with optical equipment and diagnostic testing
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to work autonomously and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Basic math skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in healthcare
• Customer service, retail, or optical background
• Optometric technician certification
