Job Overview

At Edison Electric, Apprentice Electricians collaborate with Lead Electricians on installations and service calls. This role involves mastering the electrical code, honing essential skills, and preparing to progress to Lead Electrician positions.

The primary objective for Apprentices is to work safely and effectively, enhance field skills, accumulate hours for certification exams, manage service vehicles, and provide exceptional customer service.

We will provide comprehensive training on customer interaction and groom you to excel as a service electrician. You will learn advanced service and installation techniques, as well as vehicle operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to instructions from Lead Electricians during installs and service calls.
  • Participate in online classes through the Minnesota Electrical Association.
  • Show consistent progress and accuracy in various electrical tasks.
  • Ensure thorough job site clean-up.
  • Undertake wiring tasks in attics and crawl spaces.
  • Assist in maintaining service vehicle cleanliness and inventory levels.
  • Follow safety protocols including the use of safety gear.
  • Timely attendance to assigned tasks.
  • Adhere to The Edison Electric Code of Service Excellence.
Additional Responsibilities

To succeed in this role, you must also fulfill the secondary duties efficiently. Similar to primary duties, these responsibilities may be adjusted or added to as needed.

  • Begin training on service software usage.
  • Start estimating electrical work using software tools.
  • Assess potential job requirements.
  • Develop customer communication skills.
  • Initiate project set-up and management learning.
  • Familiarize with the products and services offered by Edison.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong writing, interpersonal, and multitasking skills
  • Proficiency in computer and software applications
  • Capability to work independently and follow guidelines
Physical Demands
  • Adeptness in working in confined spaces and on ladders.
  • Ability to work in varying temperature conditions.
  • Experience working on extension ladders.
  • Full sensory and physical capabilities.
  • Aptitude to lift up to 50 pounds.

Clear and precise written and verbal communication skills are a must.
