The CTRS Specialist for the Counseling, Testing and Referral Services Program at AID Atlanta is a skilled community health educator who is responsible for providing Counseling, Testing and Referral and Linkage Services (CTRS) within the Wellness Center and at off-site venues where high-risk target population testing is conducted.


The CTRS Specialist is responsible for conducting prevention counseling, testing and post-test counseling for HIV and other STIs as defined by AID Atlanta.

The specialist will be trained using a variety of rapid and conventional tests.

Applicants should be aware they will be required to handle a variety of body fluids required for testing.


This position will primarily focus on identifying and providing HIV and other STI counseling, testing, and referral service sessions at our main office location of 1605 Peachtree Street NE.

However, all staff are required to participate in off-site testing events generally accounting for 15% of time worked

or approximately 2 events per month.


The individual is to perform all functions in observance of the Agencys rules, regulations, philosophy, objectives and policies, including but not limited to the services and duties below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides HIV/AIDS/STD prevention services, testing and counseling, and behavioral interventions
Helps to identifies specific setting or venues in which high-risk members of the target population can be accessed.
Coordinates outreach activities and special community events related to the program under the direction of the Lead Testing Specialist or Department Manager
Ensures that all necessary reports and documentation are collected and submitted to the appropriate entities in a timely and efficient manner as defined by agency policies
Attends trainings, conferences, and meetings, as requested by program manager and department director
Performs HIV and STD testing without adverse events: ensures all laboratory forms are correctly completely and accurate results and provided to all patients Ensures quality standards for testing and counseling are maintained through completion of appropriate documentation and complies with all CQI/CLIA standards
Assists clients with scheduling follow-up appointments with medical providers and make referrals to programs as appropriate

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Prevention Services.

QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED
Knowledge of HIV/STD infection and AIDS
Knowledge of various priority populations and sensitivity to their norms, values, and cultural beliefs
Must have own reliable transportation
Must have Bachelors degree in social science or related field

HIGHLY PREFERRED
Work experience in HIV prevention presentation, Testing & Counseling
Certification in the

Fundamentals of HIV Prevention Counseling and/or HIV Testing and Counseling
Bilingual (Spanish)
Bachelors degree of higher in public health, health education or a related social services field
Graduate of a Georgia accredited school in Medical Assisting and/or Phlebotomy
