Position Summary:
As


Vice President of Medical Operations , you'll oversee the Regional Medical Director Team, working closely with veterinarians to ensure unmatched patient care and exceed client expectations.

Your responsibilities include team development, resource management, and championing excellence in all operational areas.


This position requires being in hospital 5 days a week and may require up to 80% travel with some weekend responsibilities to support our after-hours urgent care model.

Key Responsibilities
Monitor and support a team of Regional Medical Directors and their projects.
Provide expertise in reviewing medical cases and ensuring optimal patient care.
Conduct on-site evaluations to assess facility compliance and identify efficiency opportunities.
Remain accessible after hours for emergent situations, ensuring continuous support.
Analyze weekly trends with Ops to provide explanation for standard Key Performance Indicators, such as favorable/unfavorable results in revenue, visits, revenue per day, revenue per doctor day, visits per day, and visits per doctor day
Attend weekly meetings with other VPs to work on common goals, initiatives and issues.
Evaluate DVM retention trends and implement strategies for improvement.
Liaise with Regional Directors and Regional Medical Directors to address issues and drive enhancements.
Oversee departmental budgets and adapt spending as necessary.
Contribute medical insights to partner quarterly business reviews.
Ultimate regulatory responsibility of facilities under management, including but not limited to, holding licenses and permits when more local medical leadership is not available
Knowledge and accountability for the financial/operational impacts of the medical side of the business, including recommendations and initiatives proposed by the VP of Medical Operations
Direct oversight and accountability of locations performing below expectations in terms of pets helped per day (volume) and quality of the medical work ups performed (rate)
Coordinate DVM meetings, continuing education, and team-building activities.
Dedicate clinical days to practicing medicine in UrgentVet locations monthly (an average 6-8 days per month)
Safeguard the UrgentVet brand reputation through exemplary leadership and clinical practices.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
DVM degree or equivalent qualification.
Minimum of 8 years of veterinary practice, with at least 3 years in multi-site hospital leadership.
Minimum of 2 years of multi-site management experience in an urgent care setting.
Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting.
Public speaking experience is strongly preferred.
Ability to travel extensively and manage time effectively.
Regulatory licensing across multiple states, including DEA and veterinary permits.
Demonstrated leadership qualities, fostering collaboration and vision.
Exceptional emotional intelligence for effective communication and relationship-building.
Capacity to inspire and motivate diverse teams towards achieving excellence.
Proficient time management and accountability in task completion; strong critical thinking skills for problem-solving and decision-making.
Uphold professionalism and positivity amidst adversity.
Ensure compliance with medical standards and regulations.
Must live within 1 hour of a major Urgent Vet market and within 2 hours of a major airport.
