Overview:

We have openings for Full-time and Part-time Outpatient Clinical Psychologists in the MedStar Washington Hospital Center Outpatient Service. This position is part of a multidisciplinary team in a growing hospital-based adult behavioral health outpatient clinic. Programming includes Intensive Outpatient Programs, for mental health and addiction treatment, a Partial Hospital Program, and individual/group therapies. The Outpatient Program is a teaching site for psychology externs, psychiatry residents and medical students. This position is employed by Signet Health and includes excellent benefits, Continuing Education funds, and a sign on bonus.

Essential Functions

  • Conducts and documents initial patient evaluations.
  • Provides psychotherapy to include counseling, group and family therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-based therapy, and behavior therapy.
  • May provide clinical supervision of other clinicians or clinicians in training.
  • Maintains detailed documentation of services provided to permit administrative and peer review; audit of services against charges for services and meet documentation requirements of the designated department(s) and the District of Columbia.
  • Engages in teaching/training as required.
  • Maintains and enhances clinical skills, via supervision, in-service training, appropriate workshops, courses, and conferences.
  • Adheres to the standards for ethical and professional practice of the American Psychological Association and the District of Columbia.
  • Provides brief mental health and co-occurring therapy that includes general individual counseling, family therapy, various forms of therapy based on patients need, trauma-based therapy, addiction related therapy, and other types of facility-based group therapy as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Candidates need to have a doctoral degree in clinical psychology, have a minimum of 2 years experience in the provision of psychological treatment of patients with psychiatric/behavioral health disorders. Must be flexible to adjust to the needs of a fast-paced environment, demonstrate effective problem-solving skills and display excellent oral/written communication skills. Previous adult behavioral health and substance use treatment experience preferred. Candidates must have active District of Columbia Psychologist license or be license eligible.
