Job Description

Overview

CENTERS, LLC is a management firm that specializes in facility, operation, and program management for higher education. Their management approach is tailored for each client while upholding consistent quality. The team at CENTERS is forward-thinking, entrepreneurial, and dedicated to meeting the needs of both their clients and the firm itself. Currently, CENTERS manages services for 14 clients.

Responsibilities

Part-time custodians play a vital role in the operations team as primary caretakers of the facility, handling custodial and janitorial tasks.

This role is based at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Sonnentag Center, a prominent athletic, recreation, and event venue scheduled to launch in the summer of 2024. The Sonnentag Center will host various university and community events, concerts, and be home to Eau Claire Men's and Women's Athletics.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Ensure daily cleaning and organization of the facility, including offices, meeting rooms, fitness areas, and equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness and disinfection of bathrooms, locker rooms, and showers
  • Restock essential supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, and soap
  • Manage inventory and stock cleaning and maintenance supplies
  • Perform regular maintenance of carpets, wooden floors, and other surfaces
  • Execute routine building maintenance tasks such as patching, painting, and minor repairs
  • Support annual facility maintenance and deep cleaning efforts
  • Identify and report safety hazards; perform minor preventive maintenance on equipment

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferably at least one year of janitorial or custodial experience
  • Knowledge of custodial operations and safety protocols
  • Current American Red Cross CPR/AED/FA certification or willingness to obtain it

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in operating cleaning equipment
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions accurately
  • Basic math skills
  • Competence in computer operation for scheduling, email, and data tasks
  • Effective time management and priority-setting skills

Work Environment

  • Varied work settings such as offices, recreation areas, and pools
  • Exposure to dirt, odors, heights, cleaning agents, and changing temperatures
  • Smoke-free environment
  • Moderate to noisy working conditions
  • Potential for evening, morning, or weekend shifts as necessary

Physical Demands

  • Extended periods of standing
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, climb, and reach
