Responsibilities:

Oversee security and control activities and personnel in an assigned area to ensure optimal facility coordination for prisoner supervision and safety, as well as the preparation of necessary records and reports.

• Assist in developing policies, procedures, and regulations for the custody, security, and treatment of detainees/inmates.
• Respond to significant unusual incidents promptly and provide appropriate assistance to detainees/inmates in case of injury, illness, or emotional distress.
• Foster an environment conducive to the personal and character development of detainees/inmates and staff by encouraging positive behavior, maintaining physical facilities, and influencing relationships among individuals.
• Supervise other employees, including hiring, evaluating performance, training, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
• Assign tasks, review post orders, ensure emergency procedures are in place, and oversee staff training for proper implementation.
• Handle disciplinary issues involving staff and detainees, conduct regular facility inspections, and ensure policy compliance.
• Offer guidance on complex situational problems and make referrals as necessary.
• Prepare and maintain records and reports as directed by management, including daily logs.
• Achieve facility objectives and ensure adherence to security operation rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Direct and train detainee/inmate staff, provide supervision and security in other areas as needed.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent certification.
• College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services, or related fields preferred.
• Three (3) years of experience in a correctional environment. One (1) year of management or supervisory experience is a plus.
• Demonstrate maturity, flexibility, intellectual acuity, ability to command respect and trust from detainees/inmates and staff, and high tolerance for mental stress.
• May need to hold a valid state driver's license.
• Must be a United States citizen.
• Minimum age requirement of twenty-one (21) years.
• Willingness to undergo a thorough background investigation as mandated by U.S. Marshals.
