Position Summary

The Education and Development Specialist will own and drive the training facilitation of nationally approved educational courses for the communities Berkshire owns and/or manages within their assigned division or nationally as needed.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, Fair Housing, Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and all other laws pertaining to apartments and team member management.
  • Maintain professional appearance during in person meetings, touring communities and video conference meetings/training.
  • Consistently demonstrate use of tact and discretion.
Training/Facilitation
  • Conduct monthly team member orientation, via video conferencing, for team members hired within the last 30 days
  • Conduct sales training for office team members, via video conference, within 45 days of hire
  • Conduct Empowering Excellence and Excellence in Leadership each quarter, as requested
  • Conduct other nationally approved training classes as developed
  • Monitor, and participate with individuals in a career path program
  • Monitor, and participate with individuals in development program
  • Develop new training modules as requested
Berkshire University/LMS
  • Enter all facilitator led training classes in the LMS at least 60 days in advance of the class.
  • Ensure all Property and Divisional team members are compliant with their learning plans in the LMS
  • Continually make enhancements to the LMS
Administrative
  • Assist with reviewing policies and procedures in Policy Tech as directed by the VP, Training
  • Participate in Acquisitions or Due Diligence tasks as requested
  • Participate in monthly MAP (Managers Advisory Panel) calls as schedule allows
  • Participate with implementation of new initiatives as requested
  • Assist with updating and creating content for Education pages on B.home
Team Member Development
  • Assist Regional Managers with development plans for team members
  • Mentor team members in the Property Manager in Training Program
  • Guide employees through the Mentoring Program
  • Participate in collaborating with Interns as requested by the VP, Training
Computer and Technology Responsibilities
  • Impressive knowledge of all Microsoft Products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Use of Outlook to manage emails, calendar, and tasks
  • Understanding of Leonardo247, including tasks and workflows
  • Understanding of current version of Windows, Edge, Azure
  • Understanding of Microsoft Teams, or equivalent technology and how to conduct online meetings/training
Meetings and Conference calls
  • Participate in weekly, monthly and "as needed" Training Department conference calls
  • Participate in monthly Property Manager meetings as requested
  • Participate in National Overview Hall and Town Hall meetings
  • Plan, facilitate and participate in Regional/Divisional meetings and events as requested
  • Attend Training meetings, conferences, and additional meetings as requested
  • Participate and support local and National Apartment Association and/or IREM activities
  • Participate in facilitating the Annual Leadership Conference as requested by the VP, Training
Additional Responsibilities
  • Perform any additional duties or tasks as assigned by the Senior Education and Development Director
  • Perform any additional duties or tasks as assigned by the Vice President of Training
Knowledge/Experience:
  • At least three (3) years' experience in a training/facilitation role or the equivalent in on-the-job experience.
  • Three (3) years' experience in the multifamily industry.
  • Two (2) years' experience in content creation or the equivalent in on-the job experience.
  • At least two (2) years' experience in a leadership role with direct reports.
  • Aptitude for organizing, prioritizing, and managing multiple priorities, using critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Demonstrated multi-modal communication style that reaches every stakeholder, specifically excellent verbal, and written communications.
  • Ability to communicate with and manage up to senior management.
  • Collaborative working style with inclusive work and thinking behaviors, commitment to excellence in teams and work product, with a strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence in high pressure and sensitive situations.
  • Tenacity, patience, and perseverance to work with business deals from beginning to end of process.

Technical/ Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or the equivalent in on-the-job experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to use and learn new technology (e.g., computers/hardware, mobile, software, cloud-based programs).
  • Proficiency with computers, keyboards, monitors and telephone headsets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Products (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, Power Point).
Berkshire Residential offers an excellent benefits package, focusing on our employees' total health and wellness.
