Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Flow Cytometry)
Reports To: Manager, Flow Cytometry Laboratory
Job Status: Non-exempt
Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist will perform high-complexity testing using flow cytometry methods, analyzing patient blood samples, and contributing to our diagnostic capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct daily flow cytometry operations, including sample preparation, analysis, and reporting.
Operate Becton Dickinson cytometers, adhering to standard operating procedures.
Analyze and interpret data with specialized software, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
Develop and maintain SOPs, validation reports, and other documentation in compliance with CLIA/CAP guidelines.
Prepare reagents, perform qualifications, and document all procedures according to established standards.
Offer technical support across departments, enhancing collaborative efforts and workflow efficiency.
Perform quality control checks, troubleshoot equipment issues, and maintain high standards of laboratory safety.
Collaborate with equipment vendors for necessary maintenance or repairs.
Communicate effectively with team members to ensure optimal laboratory operations.
Work Hours:
Tuesday to Saturday, full-time (11:00 AM - 7:30 PM), with the flexibility required for overtime as needed.
Qualifications:
Must hold a valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license.
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, or a related field in chemical and biological sciences.
2-4 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with a strong preference for experience in high-complexity testing within a CLIA/CAP environment.
Proficiency in Flow Cytometry, Immunophenotyping, or Hematology is preferred.
Supervisory experience overseeing unlicensed laboratory personnel is desirable.
Excellent documentation and organizational skills are crucial.
Physical Demands:
Regular requirements to sit, walk, stand, and communicate.
Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds.
Needs to possess specific vision abilities including close vision and the ability to adjust focus for prolonged computer work.
Work Environment:
Standard laboratory setting with moderate noise levels.
Interaction with laboratory equipment, samples, and supplies necessitating adherence to safety and health guidelines.
