Functions and Responsibilities

Job Summary


Under the supervision of the President or designee, the Liaison to the President/Board of Trustees is responsible for coordinating board activities; in coordination with providing administrative support to the President and the Board of Trustees.

Supervisory Role

Oral and written instructions are received from the President, Board of Trustees or designee. The Liaison to the President/Board of Trustees may supervise support staff and student workers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Initial point of contact within the Office of the President for acquisition of BOT materials and coordinating logistical aspects related to the preparation of Committee and BOT meetings.
  • Coordinate the planning of all activities for the Board of Trustees.
  • Prepare and disseminate the agenda for BOT meetings, ensuring that it meets criteria and is inclusive of all relevant information.
  • Prepare minutes for all BOT meetings; assist with new member orientation to the College community and proactively manage relevant files and communication.
  • Assist with the coordination and execution of decisions of the President and Board of Trustees.
  • Prepare and review correspondence, compile reports, and remain cognizant of processes and deadlines to facilitate a timely flow of information for the President and Board of Trustees.
  • Remain as the custodian of all Board records.
  • Assist with the planning and formulating of recommendations, for the approval of the President, on basic policies and programs which will further the objectives of the College.
  • Research and write speeches, policy, and position papers as directed.
  • Serve as liaison on external, institutional standing and/or ad-hoc committees as directed.
  • Maintain personal communication with area heads to facilitate the daily operational activities of the College and foster the organization of Board materials.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and security of student, staff and Board of Trustees records.
  • Prepare routine, special and ancillary reports as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two or more years of administrative experience at the College level.
  • High energy level, comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with normal activities.
  • Excellent analytic, problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer software applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, according to demands of the role and tasks.
  • Ability to oversee, train and develop staff in President's office.
Education Requirements Bachelor's Degree Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities

  • Master's degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish credibility, and be decisive, while recognizing and supporting the preferences and priorities of the college.
  • Prior leadership experience at a college or university.
Education Requirements Master's Degree Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.)
