Job Opening: District Engineer at VDOT Lynchburg District

Job Duties:

  • Provide management, leadership, and direction for the Location & Design section.
  • Plan, organize, and monitor project activities for internal employees and consultants.
  • Offer fiscal management and technical guidance on various transportation projects.
  • Train and develop team members.
  • Oversee consultant design projects.
  • Ensure quality assurance for the development of road plans.
  • Manage budgets to avoid exceeding allocations and provide oversight to budget development and management.
  • Collaborate with senior managers to implement agency mission and goals.
  • Address transportation related matters utilizing sound engineering practices and project management procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Professional Engineer's license.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Experience in building networks and relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of roadway construction methods, standards, specifications, and materials.
  • Leadership experience in coaching, counseling, training, and team management.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Managerial experience showcasing administrative and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage exemplary customer service delivery.
  • Experience in roadway safety measures and civil engineering principles.

Additional Considerations:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
